I am the mother of three amazing human beings. My middle son, Matthew, lives with significant physical and intellectual disabilities. My husband and I have always known that we would not be able to sustain Matthew’s care forever. We have also known that we wanted Matthew to live a life of meaning amid a community that knows and values him. What we didn’t want was for Matthew to live his adult years in an institution. So, on July 17, 2019 we bought a house for Matthew. We hope to create a parent-run, community-based home for two adult men with disabilities. We don’t know what we’re doing, only that we believe our son deserves a life of dignity, friendship, and a home of his own.

This is our story – so far.

Let’s build something together.
